XRP has just made history by overtaking Ethereum in fully diluted value (FDV) for the first time. This marks a major shift in the altcoin market and signals growing confidence in XRP from both institutions and investors.
XRP Becomes the Top Altcoin by FDV
According to data from Token Terminal, XRP’s FDV has reached $240 billion, surpassing Ethereum’s $231.5 billion.
FDV, or fully diluted value, is a way to measure the total potential value of a cryptocurrency, including tokens that haven’t been released yet. It gives a big-picture view of a blockchain’s potential worth.
Even though XRP leads in FDV, Ethereum still has a bigger market cap—Ethereum is valued at $231 billion, while XRP’s market cap is $140 billion. But XRP’s rapid rise is a sign that the power balance between these two networks is shifting.
Why Is XRP Gaining So Much Ground?
Ethereum has been struggling lately with price drops and leadership issues, while XRP has seen a major comeback. Several key factors have fueled this growth:
✔️ Regulatory Clarity – XRP has gained an advantage after years of legal battles with the SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission). Many believe the lawsuit is nearing an end, which would give XRP a huge boost in legitimacy.
✔️ Institutional Adoption – Big financial players like Societe Generale have integrated XRP’s technology, signaling strong confidence in its future.
✔️ Political Support – Since Donald Trump’s re-election, his administration has been more pro-crypto. Policies like the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and the National Digital Asset Stockpile have increased optimism, with Trump even mentioning XRP as one of the key assets in this initiative.
✔️ ETF Speculation – Major asset managers such as Grayscale, Canary, and Franklin Templeton have filed for XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). There’s even speculation that BlackRock—the world’s largest asset manager—might file for an XRP ETF once the SEC lawsuit is resolved.
“BlackRock will file for both Solana & XRP ETFs. Solana could happen any day. I expect XRP once the SEC lawsuit is finalized,” predicted Nate Geraci, president of ETF Store.
