CertiK, a blockchain security firm, urgently advises all iPhone users of OKX to promptly update their iOS application. The firm, in a post dated December 19 on X (formerly Twitter), emphasized the critical nature of a security loophole it detected earlier in the month. CertiK urged OKX wallet users to ensure they have the latest iOS app version to mitigate potential exposure to a security flaw.
Highlighting the situation, CertiK stated, “Earlier this month, we identified and reported a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in the OKX iOS App, leading to potential compromise of sensitive data and crypto assets.” OKX, responding promptly, addressed the issue through a “relevant upgrade” released on December 19, urging users to transition to iOS version 6.45.0. CertiK subsequently confirmed the resolution of the security concern.
Reassuringly, OKX stated, “We have verified that this did not impact any customer assets.” A Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability, as explained, could empower an attacker to execute malicious code on an organization’s computers or network, risking the theft of funds or data breaches.
Earlier on December 13, OKX DEX, OKX’s decentralized exchange, encountered a $2.7 million hack following the alleged leakage of the private key of the proxy admin owner. CoinGecko’s “trust score” leaderboard ranks OKX as the 10th cryptocurrency exchange, scoring 9/10. In a recent development, OKX expanded its trading and wallet services to Brazil in late November.
